Setting up my blog

I thought setting up a blog and writing would be a simple affair. Little did I realise that there were tons of other things to do if I wanted to have my own domain name.

In the end, it took me almost 3 days to set up everything and get going. Of course, I had to work around my work roster, which isn’t exactly the best of things to work around. Well, at least I am glad it’s done.

So, why did it take me 3 days? Well, I guess this came from the nightmare of what I went through a few years back. Many years ago, I used to blog on another website and that site got hacked a few years back. It then took me almost forever to get all my data back because that company, for some reason, decided to hold me ransom – but yet not want any money. They just didn’t want to return me my data.

To cut a long story short, it took an engineer who had enough conscience to secretly return me my access so that I could back all my data up. Since then, I got really paranoid about hacking and having easy access to backups that I started searching for plugins that could help monitor and deter hacking and login attempts.

I am sure this blog is still a work-in-progress, but for now I am happy enough to go “live” and start posting – while I continue to tweak all the settings in the background.

Do come join me in my life adventures!
